Meeting the Unexpected

We like Nathanael are blinded by our assumption that “nothing good can come out of Nazareth.”

But it is not just a faulty assumption that blinds us. It is our bad faith that prevents us from “seeing” Jesus in the ordinary places of life.

Exposed, expecting only the worst, Jesus surprises us with his unexpected grace.

This amazing and unexpected reversal enables us to “see” Jesus in all the wrong places.

Once we have “seen” Jesus, we can love him by loving those who never expected to be loved: the poor, ordinary and outcast of this world.
