Worship During the Season of Pentecost

Oct 22, 2023    Rev. Steve Albertin

Welcome to worship at King of Glory Worship and Ministry Center in Carmel, IN!

On this Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost, let us worship the one who raises His throne in our hearts! Let us live in His image, and give unto God what is God's!

If you are able, we invite you to join us for communion where you are! You may use any kind of bread and either wine or grape juice, so that you may also receive the body and blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

Today's Message:

   - "Mixing Religion and Politics" - Rev. Steve Albertin

      - Jesus said, “Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” How can that happen? Jesus offers us a promising solution.

      - The relationship between religion and politics is messy. There are often conflicts.

      - Jesus addresses this conflict in today’s Gospel. The religious leadership thinks they have successfully worked out a compromise between the competing claims of Church and State. They are upset with Jesus because he has attacked their compromise.

      - They try to trap and discredit Jesus with a crafty question.

      - Jesus evades their trap and succeeds in exposing the hypocrisy of their own supposed compromise between Church and State. Their hands are still dirty.

      - So are ours! There is no way we can successfully manage the competing claims of Church and State, God and Government.

      - But the same Jesus who exposes our hypocrisy also offers his mercy and forgiveness.

      - What about the controversial social and political issues of our day? We seek to do what is best for our neighbor, respecting those with whom we disagree.

      - We will be scorned, but in the end we look good on wood!
