- Do you suppose it is possible that various people who were involved in our Lord’s Passion ever had the opportunity to talk with one another about it? Perhaps even right then, while the events were happening? Can you imagine what they might have said? This year's midweek Lenten services invite us to listen in on conversations heard at the foot of the cross—conversations that forever touched and changed lives—just as our have been by the crucifixion of Jesus.
- Tonight we hear at the foot of the cross the voices of two thieves sentenced with Jesus. They remind us of the very human struggle between self-justification and trust in mercy, as one turns away from and the other towards Jesus with hope. We too live in that same hope, placing our trust in Jesus who opens the promise of eternal life to us!
