Who's Giving Up What for Lent?

Have you given up something for Lent? But Lent is not about what we give up but what God gives up.
The story of Noah and the ark is not just a cute story about animals and a rainbow. It is a dark story about God’s judgment of sinful world.
The most important detail in the story is the “bow” in the sky. However, it is not just a rainbow but a warrior’s “bow” that God has put aside. It is a sign of God’s promise to destroy never again the world like this.
The “bow” is like the “cross” where God has also given up his right to make us pay.
In Lent we remember what God has given up for us.
Trusting that promise we too can begin to give up ourselves for others.
