Worship on Maundy Thursday
Welcome to worship at King of Glory Worship and Ministry Center in Carmel, IN!
On the night He was betrayed, Jesus took a towel, washed His disciples’ feet, and commanded them to do likewise. He also took a cup, gave it to His disciples to drink, and commanded them to remember Him by doing likewise. On this Maundy Thursday (Maundy from the Latin word meaning “command”) we remember the commands of Jesus and celebrate His coming to us in the bread and wine of Holy Communion.
Tonight begins the three-day liturgy of Holy Week called the Triduum. What we begin in this service will be continued through Good Friday and conclude with the Celebration Festival of Easter. This is one story, even though it is told over several days and the benediction is held back until the resurrection is announced. Make sure that you attend each day as more and more of the story is revealed.
Holy Communion is the gift of forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation offered by Christ to believers. All are welcome to the table who trust in the Lord’s promise. We believe that Christ is truly present in the Sacrament and that with the bread and wine we receive His Body and Blood.
On this Thursday of the Last Supper, let us remember the one who shed his body and blood for our sake!
If you are able, we invite you to join us for communion where you are! You may use any kind of bread and either wine or grape juice, so that you may also receive the body and blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

- "What makes tonight different?" - Rev. Erik Allen
- What makes this night so special? It is a reminder that God’s love in Christ reaches out to claim us not in spite of human sinfulness, but because of the sins of the world. God’s love is total and absolute. The love of God in Christ is a basic, foundational, fundamental, fact of our lives.
Worship concludes this evening with the “Stripping of the Altar,” which is symbolic of Jesus’ humiliation at the soldiers’ hands. This removal of the altar furnishings (as Psalm 22 is shared) marks the transition from the eucharistic celebration to Jesus’ crucifixion and death. We invite you to take some time to reflect on the words of Jesus, and what was about to happen.
Join us again tomorrow evening at 7pm for Good Friday, when we remember the Crucifixion of Jesus, when He died on the cross to save us all.
Join us Sunday at 10am for Easter Sunday, when we remember and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus!
Got little kids? Are you going to be in town this Saturday? Join us at 11am at our picnic shelter for our Annual Easter Egg Hunt! With 2000 eggs hidden out there, everyone is sure to find some! If the weather is inclement, we will gather inside the Gathering Place at door #1 (where the bell tower is).
Don't forget, you can give your offering online at https://kogcarmel.org/give
We invite you to join us every Sunday at 10am!
