Overheard: Malchus and Mark
Feb 25, 2026 • Rev. Erik Allen, Jeff Boldt, Mark Gagen
Do you suppose it is possible that various people who were involved in our Lord’s Passion ever had the opportunity to talk with one another about it? Perhaps even right then, while the events were happening? Can you imagine what they might have said? This year's midweek Lenten services invite us to listen in on conversations heard at the foot of the cross—conversations that forever touched and changed lives—just as our have been by the crucifixion of Jesus.
Tonight we hear from Malchus the servant of the high priest whose ear was cut off and then healed by Jesus in the garden as well as Mark a young man who ran away from the garden leaving his tunic behind. Together they talk about what happened that night—about healing, miracles and faith
