As Christmas Eve approaches, it’s easy to get caught up thinking about the “true meaning” of Christmas. Today, Matthew reminds us that the true meaning of Christmas is not something that can be captured in a Hallmark card or a feel-good movie. It’s about the most radical thing imaginable: that God, the Creator of the universe, chose to enter into our human story as Emmanuel—God with us.
